Speed, Time, Distance: The Formula Triangle

Three connected quantities — speed, time, distance — are easy to remember through a simple visual triangle.

A triangle of three formulas

Distance on top, speed and time on the bottom of the triangle. Cover the quantity you want with a finger, and the remaining operation appears: distance=speedĂ—time, speed=distanceĂ·time, time=distanceĂ·speed.

đź’ˇ Anchor: draw the triangle together with the child and practice covering different parts.

Practice

A car drives 60 km/h for 3 hours. What distance? 60Ă—3=180 km.

Traveled 100 km in 2 hours. What speed? 100Ă·2=50 km/h.

FAQ

Does the triangle need to be memorized?
Understanding the relationship between the quantities matters more — the triangle is just a visual hint, not something to memorize by rote.

đźš— Multiplication and division are the base of these formulas!

Our game trains both operations.
