Pi for Kids: A Simple Explanation Without Formulas
Pi is not a scary formula — it is the result of a simple measurement: how many times the diameter fits around the circle.
The string-and-circle experiment
Take a round object — a plate, a lid. Measure the circumference with string, then measure the diameter separately. Divide the circumference by the diameter — the result is a number just over three. That is pi.
💡 A child's discovery: repeat the experiment with different circles — big and small. The division result always comes out close to the same — about 3.14.
Pi is not an exact number
Pi goes on forever without repeating: 3.14159265... In elementary school, knowing the rounded value 3.14 is enough.
