From hundreds to thousands
1000 is ten hundreds. The number 3452 breaks into 3 thousands, 4 hundreds, 5 tens, 2 ones. The place value principle is the same, just with a new level added.
💡 Reading by groups: split big numbers into groups of three digits from the right — this makes reading easier: 12,345 reads as "twelve thousand, three hundred forty-five."
